   Chiaroscuro

In the visual arts, chiaroscuro is a technique that uses a contrast between light and shadow to illustrate three-dimensional objects and make for a more dramatic and interesting composition. However, this is not limited to the visual arts. Writers of prose also use contrast of dark themes and light actions to illustrate the points they wish to make, and there are no greater examples than the non-fiction movements of the world around us. Chiaroscuro seeks to bring together non-fiction pieces that use this same contrast method in a literary form.
