A Treat
By Melissa Espinoza
Slice off a piece
Though, maybe two or three would be best
Above the elbow
Below the knee
Above the muscle
Scrape up against my rib cage
Sliced off in perfect squares
2x2”
Place directly on the tongue
Skin side up
With ease
With urgency
Jesus’ body tasted like
Holy cardboard to me
I hope to you
I taste
Of honey
And used coffee grounds
Of cheap silk
Of too much salt
Of
Bloody cardboard
Of of of
