 About

At some point on the way to a new consciousness, we will have to leave the opposite bank, the split between the two mortal combatants somehow healed so that we are on both shores at once and, at once, see through serpent and eagle eyes.

—Gloria Anzaldúa, Borderlands/La Frontera
For there was a moment when anything was possible. And there will be a moment when nothing is possible. But in between we can create.”
—Mohsin Hamid, How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia

DiN Magazine is an artistic vector: specifically, an online Southern New Mexico literary magazine fosters the intersection of conventional literature with innovative composition. We publish and hope to elevate new work by emerging writers that bend genres, delights, and frustrates its audience. We seek to contribute to our vision of modern aesthetic magnitude. We seek creatives of all types and backgrounds to contribute to a shared vision of compelling aesthetics and contemporary relevance.

Student editors work together to bring readers each special edition of DiN Magazine. We hope to build a community for those who are starting their journeys as writers, artists, photographers, and musicians. By our hands and minds, we strive to let the unknown become known. We hope to create a collective of recognized and unrecognized voices working together to uplift each other. We desire to challenge our readers to think. We strive to capture a literary spirit with unique and ideologically diverse perspectives. Let us be a collective, of loud and quiet voices.

In that spirit, we welcome all submissions from writers of all backgrounds. We are committed to amplifying NMSU students’ voices and are especially interested in stories whose experiences have historically been and continue to be marginalized. We want to elevate the work of writers and artists with disabilities. We seek the work of writers of color and of genderqueer, non-binary, and genderfluid identities.
