On behalf of their nonfiction team, DiN is proud to announce the release of their newest editorial feature: COCOON.
COCOON is an incubator of personal growth and metamorphosis -- a process that is repulsive but also bewitching. COCOON is an enclosed space that is both lonely and unnerving, but it is also a creator’s wonderland of limitless artistic possibilities.
The pieces selected for this feature each illustrate a unique journey of transformation.
Madeline McKinney's showcase highlights Junichiro Tanizaki's essay, "In Praise of Shadows," an exploration of culture and identity through the contrast between modern, Western appliances and Japanese aesthetic.
Melissa Luna's flash memoir, "Mis Amigos," is an exposition of vulnerability that is embracive of an intimate battle between herself and the lurking demons of the mind.
Kindra Stewart's flash memoir, "Purple Scribbled Cursive," is a testament to some of the challenges she has faced and tried to overcome in her recovery from the post-traumatic stress disorder.
Diana Torres' flash memoir, "Fuchsia Star-Shaped Earrings" is an inspiring homage to anyone who has ever felt uncomfortable in their own skin and braved uncertainty with a bite-size piece of courage in the form of a single item.
